The geta beraya or the drum with the knot ("getaya" in Sinhalese) originates from the hill-country of Sri Lanka. It is traditionally used to accompany Kandyan dance rituals. This drum is made from a variety of wood types including Ehela, Kohomba, Mahogany, Waya or Kos (Jak). The drum face is made of cattle or goat skin. It's played tied around the waist.
